Symbolic Archetype

Symbolic archetypes have been used in modern day films usually there are more than one archetype in a single movie. Fire is a symbolic archetype that is used in many films these archetypes characteristics are su;n, fire, and sacrifice. The movie Apocalypto uses the characteristics sun and sacrifice. Examples are scenes where they are sacrificing the prisoners on top of the temple to the gods. and decapitating them and then rolling their body down the steps. Another scene is when the moon passes in front of the sun cause a solar eclipse symbolizing the gods are pleased.

Circle is an archetype used in many films these archetypes usually have eternity, wholeness, and new life in them. A perfect example of a circle archetype would be the film The Lion King where in the beginning the circle of life begins playing.

Magical Weapon is an archetype where a hero may use it fully or at all. The movie Lord of the Rings uses archetype. For Example Gandalf use his staff, Frodo's sword glows when enemies are near, Aragon uses his father's sword that was remade, and the main weapon that no can use but the Dark Lord Sauron is the ring.

Haven vs. Wilderness is an archetype used in many films its characteristics are safety/danger. There are many films out there with safety/danger any war movie is a good example of this archetype. The book of Eli is a perfect example where Eli has to travel through a post apocalyptic world and travel west to save the only remaining Bible in existence.

For my last archetype I'm going to use Light vs. Darkness light usually suggest hope and renewal darkness implies unknown, ignorant, and despair. A good example for this archetype would be all six of the Star Wars movies. But I'm going to use Star Wars III Revenge of the Sith where Anakin Skywalker supposedly the chosen one to defeat the Sith is convinced to go to the dark side of the force by Palpatine. Anakin is given the new name Darth Vadar and is sent to kill every Jedi in the Jedi Temple.
